Too often, I continue to get caught up in the whirlwind of daily life. Bills to pay, errands to run, seemingly endless therapy sessions for Isabella, just to mention a few.
But last week, I was reminded, by my own two children, of the need to stop and have fun. We went to a local carnival and enjoyed a simple afternoon. No phone calls, no bills, no traffic, no work. Just messy, extra-buttered popcorn, winning goldfish, riding on the fun (but marginally safe!) carnival rides, and listening to music.
A woman standing in line for a ride with my wife and Isabella told my wife that she was glad to see that we were not afraid to take Isabella to carnivals and let her experience everything. And that's the truth. Too often, I continue to get caught up on the whirlwind of daily life.
So...summer is still here. Get out there and enjoy a small town carnival, outdoor concert, or field trip to the zoo. Or just sit on the porch and enjoy the sounds of the season. Remember what it's like to be a kid! For me, it took my own children to remind me of that. And I plan to laugh all the way to Monday!
Carnival
The carnival has become the highlight of my kids summer! My daughter has MR and loves rides....but is very intimidated before she gets on them. Once she gets going she has a blast. You should see the looks I get from other parents, and kids, when I have to force her upon the rides. My wife and I now find it comical!
