New Webisode Series Documents Stories of Families
Raising Children With Special Needs

A series of weekly webisodes documenting the stories of families raising children with special needs is at the heart of the new web site ExceptionalFamilyTV.com.

Co-founded by Nathan Charlan, father of a three-year-old son diagnosed with cerebral palsy, the site is a gathering place for families affected by the unique financial, emotional and social issues associated with raising children with special needs. In addition to short documentary webisodes, the site’s forums, blogs and related Facebook page offer people around the globe a place to share information and encouragement.

Together with his wife Renee, Charlan hosts and produces the video series in Arvada, Colorado. The series premiered in late April 2010 with a two-part story following Jack, a child diagnosed with autism, whose life was transformed when his mother put a video camera in his hands. New episodes premiere on the site each Friday morning. In addition to stories about exceptional families, the series includes advice and resources from experts working in different areas of the special needs field.

“As parents of a child with special needs, Renee and I know the struggles, the obstacles and the marital stress families deal with,” said Charlan. “We hope that through ExceptionalFamilyTV.com other families won’t feel as alone as we did when we started our journey.”

Webisodes range from approximately five to 10 minutes in length to accommodate family members who often have many demands on their time.
